“Since you have been united with Christ in His death and resurrection, continually regard that as your true identity. Consider yourself no longer under sin’s authority but living a new life toward God through Jesus Christ. Live as if sin had no power.”
Paul is calling believers to align their thinking with the reality of what God has already accomplished through their union with Christ. The command is not to create a new reality but to live in light of an existing one. When temptation comes, we can say, “That is not who I am anymore.”
When the enemy whispers accusations, we can say, “I belong to Christ.”
When the world tells us that change is impossible, we can point to the empty tomb and remember that resurrection power lives within us.
Paul’s message is wonderfully simple – we are no longer slaves to sin.
We are alive to God.
What would you do if sin had no control over you? Live like THAT.
