Here is the conclusion I came to from reading these two verses…

This is my opinion only, so take it for what it’s worth. I think many of us (I include myself in that crowd) have wandered far astray from how evangelism is supposed to work. We think the church service is where people are primarily evangelized, so we invite non-believers to church. That is not a bad thing; don’t get me wrong. But that is not evangelism. Paul spoke of the Gospel wherever he went, and in whatever context he found himself in. Churches resulted from his activity, yes. But the primary engine that drove evangelism happened on the streets, in the day-to-day life. Christ-followers readily expressed their faith in every context, wherever they were. Those who bowed their knee in faith to the King of Kings then met together for instruction in this new thing they had embraced (Church).

The power is in the message – not just as it is spoken – but as it is lived… on the street.

Our responsibility is to faithfully proclaim Christ through word and deed. Like Paul, expect your heart to be broken when those you love don’t respond as you want them to. But again – prepare to be surprised by those who do. Paul continually went to the Jews first. But his greatest success was among the Gentiles.

Be faithful in living and proclaiming the Gospel- and prepare to be surprised.
