“…do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

My mind was (and is still being) renewed by the “…washing by the water of the Word…”. I simply read and meditate on the words I read. For example, I didn’t study how to be more gentle or less angry. I have no agenda – I simply put God’s words into my brain, and God does the rest… and I am transformed.

We are bombarded by this world through social media, commercials, TV, movies, and books. The world is moving on us, attempting to conform us to its ideals and philosophies. 

Our solution to this as Christians is to inundate ourselves with the words of God. Like that old woman’s clothes that don’t understand how the soap that cleanses them works, we may not understand how putting the word of God into our lives cleanses us… but be assured – it does. As we go down this path of renewing our mind, Paul says the result will be

Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

You will begin to see God’s will at work. You will begin to hear from Him. I can think of nothing more marvelous than that.
